Emmys 2022: Complete List of Winners and Nominees

Succession won big Sunday night at the Emmys! And also threw a little shade at England’s new monarch?

Succession, Ted Lasso and The White Lotus were the victors in their respective drama, comedy and limited categories at this year’s Emmy Awards. In total, the trio bagged 12 awards at Monday’s ceremony, including the big prize in their respective fields.

Jesse Armstrong said it had been a “big week for successions” as his hit HBO drama scooped a top prize at the 74th Emmy Awards. In his acceptance speech for the final award of the night, the British writer suggested there had been “a bit more voting involved” in the show’s win than with the ascension of the new King.

After the intensity and suspense of tonight’s Emmy broadcast, the winners, nominees and presenters gathered afterward to blow off some steam. From the Governors Ball to fetes thrown by HBO and Apple, many of the night’s biggest names were there — except for, of course, Jerrod Carmichael, who took his Emmy and his fur coat and went home.

When the cameras weren’t rolling at the 2022 Emmy Awards, the celebs were out of their seats and mingling with their friends at other tables!

Succession won the top award of the night at the Emmys and the show’s creator Jesse Armstrong took the moment to throw shade at King Charles III.

A royal shout-out. Succession creator Jesse Armstrong joked about recent “successions” while accepting the biggest award of the night at the 2022 Emmys.

 took home the trophy for Outstanding Comedy Series during the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. The beloved Apple TV+ series beat out other major programs, including , ,  and .The category was presented by alum Pete Davidson, who had a brief reunion onstage with Jason Sudeikis, who accepted the honor on behalf of the show, the creative team and the cast.«Thank you so much to everyone who watches the show.

The 2022 Emmys ended up being a middle-of-the-road show — nothing terribly controversial happened (no, nobody slapped anyone). But it also moved along at a brisk pace and included enough moving and funny moments that it wasn’t a bad show, either. Host Kenan Thompson played it safe, and did a solid job shepherding things along while injecting a few laughs, but nothing too distracting.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter HBO roared back to the top of the Emmy Awards, with the premium cabler and its streaming counterpart, HBO Max, topping the total awards haul for 2022. HBO/HBO Max picked up 38 Emmys in total, doubling their 19 wins in 2021. HBO took home multiple awards in the limited series category thanks to “The White Lotus'” 10 wins, with Mike White winning for both best writing and directing. Those wins were coupled with “The White Lotus” stars Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Bartlett’s wins for best supporting actress and actor in a limited series. To close out the night, “The White Lotus” ultimately won best limited series while “Succession” won best drama series.
