Emmerdale will take a look back at the tragic death of Holly Barton in a storyline involving newcomer Suzy Merton. Suzy, played by Martelle Edinborough, has just arrived in the village and has already created a stir. She became a love interest for Vanessa Woodfield and the pair developed a connection.
However, it was soon revealed that Suzy has a dark relationship with Leyla Cavanagh - Suzy is acting as a supplier for Leyla’s secret drug habit. But this is not the only connection newbie Suzy has to the village. It will also be revealed that she knew Holly Barton, who tragically passed away in 2016 from a drug overdose.
In an upcoming episode, Suzy suggests to Moira Dingle that her barns should be hired out to use for wedding venues. She then proposes using a field in Moira’s property, which – unbeknownst to her – is where Moira's daughter, Holly Barton, is buried. Leyla points out a picture of Holly, and it is then revealed that Suzy recognises her.
She runs away from Moira’s home and is later found by Leyla looking through remembrance pages for Holly online. Suzy then admits that she knew Holly, raising suspicions about what else the newcomer is hiding.
