Emmerdale is scheduled to celebrate its 50th anniversary this autumn and there's some huge storylines planned for the memorable episodes. There's already been a few hints dropped while some plot twists have been confirmed by bosses at the hit ITV soap, which first landed on screens back in 1972. Three iconic characters, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), Diane Sudgen (Elizabeth Estensen) and Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh), will all be making a return to the show, just in time for a "massive storm" which will wreck havoc on the village.

Mark, 53, gave a tease of what viewers can get excited for in the anniversary celebration as he spoke to OK! He revealed: “We’ve just been emailed them [the scripts].They’ve just arrived and it’s nothing short of sensational.” While nothing else was given away about the soap's 50th tribute, it has been shared that the upcoming documentary will include Emmerdale clips from significant plotlines and unearthed moments from the ITV archives never-seen-before by fans.

With Emmerdale’s huge milestone 50th birthday just around the corner, the cast and crew have been treated to an impressive Woolpack cake to mark the occasion. In snaps released of some of the cast, the likes of Lisa Riley, Jay Kontzle, and Mark Charnock beamed as they stood behind the large cake, which undeniably looked just like the iconic Yorkshire pub.The details on the cake included the ivy going up the front of the building, The Woolpack sign on the front, as well as a bench outside the pub with two pints of beer on.
