Fans of ITV's Emmerdale have been playing detective again and some reckon they've worked out what actually happened to vicar Charles Anderson after he was found slumped on the chapel floor in Monday’s episode (16 August). Charles was rushed to hospital following a fraught conversation with his daughter Naomi after he was relived she finally agreed to talk to him and it looked as though Naomi had something to do with his demise. The conversation between the pair soon became heated, and the whole thing was overheard by Manpreet Sharma as she headed towards the church, catching a glimpse of a distraught Naomi hurrying away.
As Manpreet rushed inside she was shocked to find Charles lying on the floor unconscious and called an ambulance. Naomi reappeared when the medics arrived as Manpreet tended to Charles but she was arrested on suspicion of assault and Emmerdale fans now believe, despite the way it looks, Naomi might be innocent even though Manpreet later compared her to village murderer, Meena.
Eagle-eyed viewers noticed Ethan fiddling around with the electrics earlier in the episode and, in previous episodes of the soap, references had been made to the chapel's electrics being dodgy and needing some rewiring. One fan wrote on Twitter: “Vicar been electrocuted.” Another added: “Lazy Marcus should have fixed the electrics by now! Poor Naomi will get the blame for this.” A third wrote: “He got electrocuted playing electrician!” Later at the hospital, Manpreet and Ethan received an update on Charles who has a serious head injury and is put into an induced coma with hospital workers saying the next few hours would be critical.
