Emmerdale fans were left floored on Wednesday night to discover that another villager is pregnant with Charity Dingle revealing that she is with child. And now actress Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, has discussed the storyline and teased Mackenzie Boyd's, played by Lawrence Robb, "really interesting" reaction to the news. Viewers will recall that Charity and Mackenzie have had a turbulent on-off romance in the village and Wednesday's episode ended with Charity secretly making an abortion appointment without telling her boyfriend.Talking about Charity's decision to keep it secret, actress Emma said: "I think everyone is shocked - the audience and herself, which is why she keeps it top secret.
She doesn't want to discuss it with anyone yet. "Certainly, Mackenzie, because she's not even sure she wants to keep it. And I think once you open that sort of cabinet of, you know, dilemma of what should she do, then it becomes a whole different ball game.
"So at the moment, she's keeping it to herself, which the audience realise. And, you know, that's probably going to be quite tough for the audience. Because obviously, you know, there are two people that usually help to create a child.
"So, yeah, I think it's gonna be interesting. She knows she's got this secret and so there's a lot of worry, anxiety and guilt because at this point, she's not told Mackenzie. And obviously, we see her bump into Amelia [Spencer, who is also pregnant] at the abortion clinic." Teasing Mackenzie's "really interesting" reaction to the baby news, Emma continued: "A lot of the time, Charity just thinks: 'What's the quickest way to solve this problem? Eradicate the obvious, you know, so make it invisible almost.' "I think she knows that she's late 40s.
