Next week, Leyla Harding’s drug secret finally comes out on Emmerdale. Fans of the ITV soap were initially shocked when Leyla began doing cocaine with newcomer Suzy Merton. Since the first time, Leyla’s addiction has spiralled out of control but she has kept it hidden from her loved ones and lied to get out of awkward situations.
Only Suzy knows the truth and has tried to curb her own drug use and is hopeful that Leyla would do the same, but she hasn’t been able to stop. It all comes to a head in an episode next week when her close friend and ex-boyfriend David Metcalfe catches her doing a line of coke from a table. He is horrified by the sight of the drugs and confronts Leyla about it as she doesn’t have a chance to hide them now he’s seen her with them.
Leyla tries her best to explain – with more lies – about why she had the drugs, but David sees through them and decides to get her help. In order to support her fully, David admits he has to let her husband Liam Cavanagh know about her substance issue. However, Leyla doesn’t want him to know and begs David not to tell her secret, but he still tries to meet up with Liam.
After sending a brief text to meet, Liam is confused but still heads over to meet his wife’s ex. Leyla pleads with David to not meet Liam and tries to convince him that she has stopped taking the drugs, therefore there's no need to worry Liam. Become an OK!
