Emmerdale fans witnessed a dramatic exit on Thursday evening, after a character left and Leyla Harding’s kidnapping ordeal came to an end. Villain Callum left the soap a year after joining, in tense scenes that saw an armed stand-off with police after he tried to kill Leyla. Earlier in the week, Callum kidnapped Leyla after he’d attacked Suzy the day before, leaving her for dead after hitting her with a brick.
Callum had gone after the pair after they exposed his drug dealing to the police, after he stabbed Leyla’s son Jacob earlier this year. Jacob survived, but seeing as he had a knife, Leyla realised they could not go to the police. Instead, she decided to film him dealing drugs and have him arrested, while Suzy shared information about him to his criminal pals.
After Callum found out, he attacked Suzy and kidnapped Leyla as revenge, before holding her hostage, seemingly planning to kill her. As he dragged Leyla through the woods, seemingly intent on murdering her, Suzy managed to find out their location and called the police, with armed officers soon on the scene - but not before Callum took Suzy and Jacob hostage too. Armed police then surrounded the building with their guns pointed at the entrance, and as Callum emerged he had several red dot targets on him.
He put down his weapon and was arrested, as Jacob, Suzy and Leyla stepped out terrified. Led away by the police, Callum was arrested for kidnap, forced imprisonment and possession of a firearm. Their ordeal seemingly over, the trio breathed a sigh of relief - with Callum thought to have left the soap after a dramatic stand-off with the police.
