With Emmerdale's big 50th anniversary coming up this October and show bosses promising "huge" storylines in the ITV soap, its unsurprising that fans have flocked to to share their theories about what's in store for the villagers. Writing on Reddit, one fan asked fellow viewers to share their predictions abut what the upcoming drama will entail.
Many think it could be the perfect opportunity for serial killer Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) to break out of prison and make a comeback. Some fans are also talking about possible comebacks such as that of Jamie Tate (Alex Lincoln), Kathy Glover (Malandra Burrows) and even a back-from-the-dead storyline for Joe Sugden (Frazer Hines).

While some would love to see Meena return to the Dales in a similar twist to Harvey's prison break in Coronation Street's 2021 super soap week special, others think it would be a stretch too far.They're keen to see other characters like Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) take the spotlight.
"Their feud could escalate into something much more darker towards the anniversary if it continues for a good couple of months," one pointed out. However, most fans are more keen on the idea of Emmerdale making subtle nods to the past.
One pondered the possible return of Kathy Glover, but admitted it might be unlikely in light of actress Malandra's recent cancer diagnosis. They wrote: "I did think Kathy from the olden days may return but seeing her recent cancer diagnosis that could stop that if they had considered it, she was ripe for return with a family in toe."
