Ed Sheeran says he felt “proud” to make video bringing Jamal Edwards’ vision to life

ARTICLE UPDATE (02/08/2022): Coroner releases conclusions on cause of death of entrepeneur Jamal Edwards. An inquest held at West London coroner’s court into the death of Jamal Edwards, the founder of the pioneering online grime and rap platform SBTV who helped launch the careers of Ed Sheeran and Stormzy, has concluded that the cause of death was drug-related. A toxicology report found there was evidence of cocaine use and presence of alcohol.

Jamal Edwards died of a cardiac arrest after taking cocaine, a coroner has ruled.The DJ and founder of SBTV passed away on in Acton, west London on February 20. He was 31 years old.Back in June, his mother Brenda Edwards said that her son’s death was the result of him taking recreational drugs.

Jamal was a pioneer in the UK music industry and well-respected by his peers after creating the groundbreaking music platform SBTV. He was found dead at his home in Acton, West London.

The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday and Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X and Kendrick Lamar lead the pack with seven nominations each. Lamar is nominated in the best cinematography category for his music videos for songs "family ties" and "N95." The rapper, who has not been nominated since 2018, is also nominated for best hip-hop, visual effects, direction, editing and best video.  Kendrick Lamar is nominated in the best cinematography category for his songs "family ties" and "N95."
