EastEnders actress Natalie Cassidy fought back tears as she paid tribute to June Brown on Monday's episode of The One Show. It was announced on Monday 4 April that the soap legend, known for playing Dot Cotton on the soap, had died at the age of 95. Natalie, 38, famed for her role as Albert Square's Sonia Fowler, then appeared on The One Show to chat about her former co-star, who she was also close friends with off-screen.
While June played Dot for 35 years, Natalie is a soap stalwart in her own right, having played Sonia on and off since 1993. Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter. You can sign up at the top of the page.

Alex Jones asked: "You knew her on-screen and off-screen, you were great friends and would holiday together, all sorts of things, but why do you think that the nation really did take her to their hearts as Dot?" "Because I think she created Dot herself," Natalie said, choking back tears. "I know it was written on a page but that character, she created and it was so real to life to have that woman around town who knew everybody's business," Natalie continued. "Every single scene she did, every word she said, was truthful and that's why I think everybody fell in love with
