EastEnders' Danielle Harold breaks silence after Lola's shock axing from soap

EastEnders actress Danielle Harold has opened up for the first time since rumours surfaced that she would be axed from the BBC soap.The soap star, who is best known for playing Lola Pearce, has been a pivotal member of the show's cast for around 11 years. However, it appears her time on Albert Square could come to an end according to reports, which have suggested she is part of a big shake up which could see several beloved characters meet their end. One insider told The Sun that her character would be written out of the soap "with no option to return" – which suggests Lola may be killed off.
The publication also reported that Danielle was not expecting to leave the show and was left "teary" and "in pieces" after hearing that her days in Walford were numbered.The source said: "The cull came out of the blue. "She was not expecting the chop because her character has been a firm favourite with viewers. She’ll be written out with no option to return.
"Danielle was teary but was told a number of the cast were being shown the door. No-one else has been given their marching orders yet." Despite her initial reaction it appears as though Danielle is now looking to the future after telling the Daily Star she "can’t wait to start something new". She said: "EastEnders has been such a big part of my life, but I can’t wait to start something new.
I want to work on other things and play other characters. "I can’t wait to get out there and see what’s possible. "I’d love to do a drama.
