EastEnders has had a dramatic year, so it's not surprising that the soap has picked up a number of nominations at this year's British Soap Awards. But one person is missing, according to fans and actor Max Bowden. Young Lexi Mitchell has had a tough few months as her mum Lola was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour, before she passed away on Wednesday's episode.
Lexi, played by Isabella Brown, has been at the centre of the heartbreaking storyline for months as she has tried to deal with the life-changing events. Despite her major role, Isabella has not made the shortlist for the Best Young Performer at Saturday's British Soap Awards. Ahead of the awards, EastEnders fans have picked up on her absence and shared their unhappiness on social media.
One fan tweeted to say: "Can someone explain to me why this little wonderful actress who has delivered excellent performance after excellent performance throughout this storyline IS NOT UP FOR BEST YOUNG PERFORMER???" That tweet was picked up by actor Max Bowden, 28, who plays Lexi's dad Ben in the soap and he added his frustrations. He retweeted the tweet to simply say: "Last tweet I promise. But this is a big RT." However, fans were quick to point out that EastEnders does have one nomination in the category in the form of Lillia Turner, who plays pregnant Lily Slater.
One fan replied to Max pointing that out saying: "Lillia is good too tbh let’s not take that away from her. Maybe next year Isabella." Max was quick to respond and throw his support behind both actresses, saying: "Lillia is incredible and deserves everything! "Just pointing out Isabella deserves recognition for her work also. But am praying Lillia wins as she has been AMAZING x." Fans are hoping that next year
