Eamonn Holmes has issued a scathing response to Phillip Schofield's statement admitting that he had an affair with a young male colleague on This Morning, whilst still married to his estranged wife, Stephanie Lowe. Eamonn, 63, who has been very vocal about his disdain for Phillip, 61, posted to Twitter as he said that Phillip had "finally been caught out".
A week after stepping down from presenting duties on This Morning "with immediate effect" Phillip made a lengthy statement to MailOnline, in which he admitted to having an "on-off" consensual relationship with a male runner during his time on This Morning, which he said was "not wise but not illegal". In his statement Phillip said that he met the man in question "when he was a teenager", and wanted help to get onto television.
Phillip then said: "It was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over." He went on to say that he was "painfully conscious" of lying about the affair to his employers at ITV, his colleagues and friends, agents, the public and "most importantly of all" his family.
He continued: "I am so very, very sorry, as I am for having been unfaithful to my wife." In a statement to OK! following Phillip's admission, an ITV spokesperson said: "We are deeply disappointed by the admissions of deceit made tonight by Phillip Schofield. Philip made assurances to us which he now acknowledges were untrue and we feel badly let down. "We accept his resignation from ITV and therefore can confirm that he will not be appearing on ITV as had previously been stated." OK! contacted ITV reps for comment

Former This Morning presenter Eamon Holmes also told GB News this week that "the toxicity is you", referring to Phillip, and criticising his "controlling, coercive behaviour." K.J. Yossman ITV CEO Carolyn McCall has been asked to give evidence to the Parliamentary committee for Culture, Media and Sport (CMS) over an affair between former ITV anchor Phillip Schofield and a young employee. The CMS Committee requested McCall’s presence in a letter published today. Read the full letter below: Thank you for your letter of 31 May 2023 setting out ITV’s response to the reports of a relationship between Phillip Schofield and a young employee on the This Morning programme. The Committee regards the media industry’s duty of care towards its staff a matter of the highest importance. Whilst the recent coverage focuses on the Schofield case, it also raises fundamental issues about safeguarding and complaint handling both at ITV and more widely across the media. These issues should, particularly in the case of Public Service Broadcasters, be open to scrutiny. The public must have confidence in the robustness of Public Service Broadcasters’ safeguarding procedures. Whilst these are issues that we want to discuss first with ITV, we will also consider them in our regular scrutiny sessions with other Public Service Broadcasters, including the BBC later this month and Channel 4 later in the year. With this in mind, we look forward to meeting with you at 10am on Wednesday 14th June so that we can raise these issues with you directly. This will enable the session previously scheduled with ITV and other commercial Public Service Broadcasters on 6th June to focus on its intended purpose of scrutinising the Government’s draft Media Bill.It is incumbent upon all media organisations to demonstrate how seriously they take their responsibilities and your appearance before the Committee will enable ITV to do so.
Phillip Schofield is reportedly selling his lavish £1million flat, where he used to have secret trysts with the much younger man with whom he had an affair. The former This Morning star currently owns the property with his wife Stephanie, and has reportedly put it on the market for £1.2million, which is the same price they paid to purchase the penthouse in 2012.The flat is thought to be the same one referenced by Eamonn Holmes in his bombshell GB News interview in which he accused ITV of covering-up the affair.
