Eamonn Holmes has become a household name across the UK over the years and is perhaps best known for his work at ITV, where he hosted the Friday edition of This Morning alongside with his wife Ruth for 15 years between 2006 and 2021. But it’s less well known that the Northern Irish presenter’s big break came as a Farming Reporter for Ulster Television, which he joined in 1979.
At the time, he was married to his first wife Gabrielle Holmes, who he met and married in the summer of 1976.The pair had three children together between 1986 and 1990 - 37 year old Declan, 35 year old Rebecca and 33 year old Niall. Their marriage eventually fell apart when they separated in 1994 - with Eamonn later confessing that they grew apart after the death of his father but that the split was “amicable.” In 1996, Eamonn moved to the UK to work on GMTV with Fiona Phillips, where he stayed for nine years until 2006 when he began presenting the Sunrise programme on Sky News.
A year later, alongside his Sunrise gig, Eamonn started working at This Morning, which reportedly raised his overall salary to a staggering £2.8 million. It made him colleagues with his then girlfriend, Ruth Langsford, who he had first met and began pursuing back in 1997.The pair had a child together, 21 year old Jack Holmes, in 2002.They got married eight years later after a 13 year long relationship at the four star country house Elvetham Hotel in Hampshire.
Eamonn would leave Sky for good in 2016 and left This Morning in 2021, when he signed with rival broadcaster GB News. The star, who recently branded his former colleague Phillip Schofield "delusional", now presents the Breakfast Show on GB News alongside Isabel Webster.
