The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has warned that emergency payments meant to help families battling the Cost of Living crisis which were supposed to be paid later this month may be delayed.
Around eight million low-income households all across the country are expecting the payments which will be split into two, with £326 supposed to arrive in people's bank accounts around July 14. But the payment may now be delayed, according to the DWP.
It said there "may be potential delays for a small minority of cases due to their unique characteristics". A second payment of £324 is planned for later on in the year, bringing the total Cost of Living payment sum to £650, Birmingham Live reports.

Those eligible for the payments must be receiving the following: Universal Credit, Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance or Income-related Employment and Support Allowance. You can also claim the payments if you get Income Support, Pension Credit, Working Tax Credits or Child Tax Credits.
The government said: "You may be able to get a payment to help with the cost of living if you’re getting certain benefits or tax credits. you do not need to apply. If you’re eligible, you’ll be paid automatically in the same way you usually get your benefit or tax credits.
"The payments will be made separately from your benefit or tax credits. These payments are not taxable and will not affect the benefits or tax credits you get."
