‘Dune’ release on HBO Max might be delayed in favour of cinema premiere

At the end of 2020, WarnerMedia decided that it was going to break the industry in two by announcing plans to release all of Warner Bros.’ 2021 film slate in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously. The strategy was analyzed from every angle, with some saying it was the death of theaters and others saying it was the way of the future.

WarnerMedia has named Dutch TV executive Annelies Sitvast its new head of unscripted programming for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. The move comes as Warner rolls out its streaming service HBO Max across its territorial footprint in the region.

HBO Max is rounding out cast for its comedy pilot OK Boomer. Will Sasso (United We Fall, Mom) and Tim Chiou (I Was a Simple Man, Seal Team) are set as series regulars, along with Zoe Manarel (New Amsterdam, An American Girl: Summer Camp) and Carter Chee in the multi-camera comedy pilot from creator Todd Linden (Happy Endings, Alexa & Katie), the late Jamie Tarses’ Fanfare and Sony Pictures TV. They join previously announced series regulars Patti Lupone, Erinn Hayes and Devere Rogers.

Stellan Skarsgard is teasing two of his highly-anticipated projects in a new interview with The Daily Beast.
