A 75-year-old man has appeared in court accused of causing death by dangerous driving of a woman in November 2020. Peter Murphy appeared at Stockport Magistrates Court for the first time this afternoon (May 16).
Murphy collided with Anne Unsworth on Dovedale Road, Offerton, Stockport, around 5pm on November 30, 2020. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died on December 13.
He was driving an Hyundai I10 and also collided with two parked cars in the collision. Murphy spoke at court only to confirm his name, age, and address in a short hearing at Stockport Magistrates Court.

He was also asked if he understood the charges against him. Murphy, of Dovedale Road, is accused of driving a vehicle without a licence and while uninsured and causing death by dangerous driving.
Murphy, represented by Simon Morton, was told his case can't be dealt with at the magistrates court and has been sent to Minshull Street Crown Court. He is set to appear at Minshull Street Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on June 20 this year.
The chair of the bench, JP Lynn Bennison, told Murphy that he must appear at Minshull Street on June 20. Ms Bennison granted him unconditional bail.
