Drama as royal guard faints while holding vigil beside Queen's coffin

Sophie, Countess of Wessex has made history, after becoming the first member of the Royal Family to travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that Sophie, 57, is carrying out an official visit to the African country at the request of the Foreign Office.The Palace said that the countess’s visit will focus on addressing the devastating impact of sexual and gender-based violence in conflict, while supporting and empowering survivors and tackling the stigma they face.

The Royal Family all came together to support one another following Queen Elizabeth II's death, with the 'Fab Four' publicly reuniting for the first time since 2020. Prince William, 40, Kate Middleton, 40, Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan Markle, 41, put their differences aside and surprised Royal fans when they emerged from the same car ready to greet crowds outside Windsor Castle on 10 September.

Charles arrived by helicopter with the Queen Consort and travelled by state limousine in bright sunshine to the service, which is also being attended by Prime Minister Liz Truss and leading figures from Wales.

Eight of the Queen’s grandchildren, including Prince William and Prince Harry will stand vigil beside her coffin in Westminster Hall for 15 minutes on Saturday night, royal sources have confirmed. The Prince of Wales, 40, will stand at the head, with the Duke of Sussex, 38, at the foot.
