Helen Mirren turned her latest premiere into a family affair. At Tuesday night's premiere of her upcoming film, "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," Mirren walked the red carpet alongside her young grandson Basil.The two made their way down the red carpet hand in hand and posed for pictures.  Mirren wore a floor length black gown with lace over the front and on the arms, and Basil wore a blue button down shirt with black jeans.  While the "1923" star doesn't have any children of her own, she is very close with her husband Taylor Hackford's two children, her stepsons Rio and Alexander Hackford.

Academy Award winner Helen Mirren has gotten candid about her experience on Shazam! Fury of the Gods, discussing everything from an on-set injury to her struggle to bear the weight of her costumes and her limited understanding of what the DC superhero pic is actually about.

Much to the chagrin of fans around the world, there are plenty of actors who sign on for superhero films and aren’t massive fans of the properties. Sometimes, these actors are just professionals who get paid to show up and do their job.

Zack Sharf Helen Mirren is already a staple of one Hollywood mega-franchise thanks to her role as Magdalene “Queenie” Ellmanson-Shaw in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, and she’s about to get another studio tentpole with the upcoming release of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.” Mirren stars as the villainous Hesperam, one of the daughters of Atlas who joins forces with her sister (Lucy Liu’s Kalypso) to locate a world-ending weapon. Mirren loved making the film, but don’t ask her about the story. “Don’t ask me about the plot, it’s too complicated,” Mirren said during an interview on “The Graham Norton Show” (via Insider). “[Lucy Liu and I] are angry goddesses wearing unbelievably heavy costumes. It was very hot and uncomfortable and, in fact, Lucy said at the end of the first day’s shooting, ‘They are trying to kill us,’ in all seriousness.”

Helen Mirren is taking risks in her acting career.  The 77-year-old actress candidly spoke out about performing her own stunts while filming "Shazam! Fury of the Gods.""I did some of my own stunts, but I broke my finger," Mirren revealed during an appearance on "The Graham Norton Show." "I was incredibly brave and didn't say anything or complain because I wanted to be a real 'stunty' person." Despite not being a huge fan of superheroes, Mirren challenged herself by not using a stunt double for the action film.  She continued to discuss why she wanted to be cast in the "sweet and funny" superhero sequel. "Loved the first Shazam… I am not a big superhero type person, but I loved the idea of it and happily signed up for the second one… It is great," she admitted on the show.

Warner Bros/New Line/DC’s sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods hit early tracking Thursday and surprised many with a low projection of $35 million, which is under the first installment’s $53.5M opening in 2019.
