Animal protection officers are investigating after a helpless dog was tied up outside a park in near-freezing temperatures and left by its cruel owner.
A member of the public spotted the female pocket bully tied up outside Balloch Park in Dumbarton as they were on their way to work on Thursday December 8, reports Glasgow Live. The dog was still there when she was on her way home - prompting her to call the Scottish SPCA.
Officers from the animal welfare charity retrieved the pooch and have taken it into their care at their Dunbartonshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre. The situation has been complicated by the fact the animal was not microchipped.
Images of the poor pup have been released in a bid to identify the dog – and its unfeeling owner.
Ally Bibby, manager of the centre, said: "The dog is a female pocket bully type dog and is white with tan patches. She also has cropped ears.
"She was spotted by a member of the public who noticed the dog on their way to work on the morning and then was understandably concerned when the dog was still there when they returned home that afternoon.
"The dog was not wearing a collar when she was found and is not microchipped.
"If anyone recognises this dog or has any information, we would ask that they contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999."
