Passengers travelling on trains through Stockport will face disruption until the end of the day.
Services through the station will either be cancelled, delayed or diverted, according to National Rail. This is because of a points failure issue.
Urgent repairs will be carried out on the track with the disruption expected to last all day on Friday (August 5). Passengers are being urged to check before they travel.

Routes affected include the line between Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston and the line between Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham New Street. Tickets are being accepted on alternative services.
A statement on the National Rail website said: "A points failure at Stockport is causing disruption to journeys through the station. Services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or diverted and not calling at Stockport.
"We anticipate disruption will continue until the end of the day."
A tweet posted by Manchester Piccadilly station this morning said: "Due to a problem with the track near Stockport services to, from and via Stockport may be subject to delay, alteration, or diversion- please check before you travel.
"We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to your journey."
