Disney Developing a Live-Action 'The Aristocats' Movie!

Zooey Deschanel (New Girl, (500) Days of Summer) will star alongside Zachary Levi and Lil Rel Howery in Sony Pictures’ live-action adaptation of Harold and the Purple Crayon, from Oscar-nominated director Carlos Saldanha (Ferdinand, Rio films), Deadline has confirmed.

Disney+ has picked up Goosebumps, a live-action series based on R.L. Stine’s bestselling books. The new version, which has been in development since April 2020, hails from Scholastic Entertainment, the media division of Scholastic, Neal H. Moritz, producer of the Goosebumps and Goosebumps 2 films, and Sony Pictures TV. The news, which had been previously announced, was part of Disney Branded Television’s TCA presentation Monday.

Stine books was first reported as being in the works in April 2020. Disney Plus has given the show a 10-episode order.The series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together – thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with each other – in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman serve as writers and executive producers on the show, with Stoller executive producing via Stoller Global Solutions.

Former Fox Entertainment Head of Drama Charlie Andrews has joined Disney Branded Television as EVP, Live-Action and Alternative Television. He will be the No.2 on the creative side to Ayo Davis, President, Disney Branded Television, to whom he will report.

He's also adamant the studio took one step forward with its casting lead but, essentially, took two giant step backward if it's going to continue with the same and tired stereotypes.«I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White,» said the 52-year-old actor, who has a form of dwarfism.
