Former striker Dimitar Berbatov believes Cristiano Ronaldo made the right decision to return to Manchester United almost a year ago, insisting he has done better than expected.
The Portuguese ace — who returned to Old Trafford from Italian heavyweights Juventus in August — ended his first season back in England with a very impressive 24 goals to his name, despite United suffering collectively, finishing sixth in the Premier League.
United ended the season trophyless and were forced to settle for a Europa League place for next term. Through it all, however, Ronaldo was a shining light; he ended the campaign with 18 Premier League goals to his name and single-handedly dragged United out of their Champions League group.

And Berbatov has now delivered his verdict on his former teammate's first season back at Old Trafford.
"More than anyone was expecting, probably," Berbatov told Betfair when asked if Ronaldo had made a positive impact this season. "I have been asked a lot of times about him, and every time I have said the same thing.
"He is bringing goals, bringing experience, helping the young talent and knowing just how to play the game. He is also smart about the way he plays and what he brings to the table.
"It doesn't matter how old he is and he has proven that. He is playing in the Premier League — the best league in the world — and he has scored 24 goals overall at 37-years-old. Come on, the guy is unbelievable."
Ronaldo is now 37 but continues to perform at levels usually unrecognisable for a player of his age. Berbatov, however, has put that down to him taking great care of himself and believing in what he is trying to achieve.
