Boy George and his Culture Club bandmates have agreed to pay £1.75million to their ex-drummer Jon Moss over lost profits.The settlement has meant that a High Court trial opening next week has now been averted. Moss had brought legal action against the band’s lead singer Boy George, guitarist Roy Hay and bassist Michael Craig following his alleged expulsion by their manager in September 2018 after 37 years of playing together.According to an order approved by Mrs Justice Joanna Smith, Moss has agreed to relinquish any right to the Culture Club name and its use, including in connection with concerts and merchandise, in return for the £1.75million [via Metro].The High Court previously heard that the band had settled a dispute over whether there was a “continuing partnership” since the formation of Culture Club.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has just joined the potential purchase party of Black Entertainment Television (BET), with the mogul setting his sights on majority stake, TheWrap has confirmed.A source close to Combs says the Grammy award-winning musician and record label executive  is “exploring the opportunity to purchase BET as a part of his strategy to build a Black-owned global media powerhouse,” Variety was the first to report. The source added that conversations around Diddy buying majority stake in the network has yet to happen. Diddy is the latest to take interest in the acquisitions of the network, following behind Tyler Perry, Byron Allen and Miami-based media company Group Black, which was founded by Richelieu Dennis, Bonin Bough, and its CEO Travis Montaque. Under the umbrella of BET Media Group lies brands BET, BET+, BET Studios and VH1, which was to the group from Paramount Media Networks in a restructuring rearrangement. This would be another lucrative entrepreneurial business move for Diddy, who founded media company Revolt in 2013.

Boy George 's mother, Dinah, has passed away at the age of 84. Confirming the news, the Culture Club singer's representatives said that he is "devastated" by the loss.They also confirmed that Dinah was surrounded by family, including George, when she passed, and ask for privacy at this time. Boy George's close friend DJ Fat Tony has since paid tribute to Dinah on Instagram, writing: "God bless you you amazing woman Dinah ....my heart goes out to @boygeorgeofficial and the entire O Dowd family what an incredible beautiful strong woman we will miss you x."
