Detectives are continuing to investigate a man in connection with the death of a young woman in Prestwich. Police launched a murder investigation after Kimberley McAssey, 29, was found unresponsive at a property in Sherbourne Court on February 21, 2021.
A coroner has previously heard that Ms McAssey was found dead in bed at a man’s house after they spent the evening together. The man 'identified the body to police officers'.
Following Ms McAssey's death, police said they had arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of murder. More than 18 months on, Greater Manchester Police confirmed the man is still under investigation, but remains on bail.

The force was unable to confirm whether he was still being investigated for murder or another alleged offence. In the wake of Ms McAssey's death, emotional tributes poured in for the much-loved mum.
Her family shared their devastation, calling her 'the life and soul of the party'. In a statement issued through Greater Manchester Police, the family said: “Kimberley was a loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, auntie, niece, friend and colleague.
“She was the life and soul of the party and always got up dancing. She loved going out for walks and jogging with friends. There was never a dull moment with her around.”
Close friends added that 'Kimberley was loved by many people in Prestwich' and was a keen Manchester City fan. Her friend Stacey told the Manchester Evening News : "Kimberley was such an amazing girl!
"We met in the local pub in Prestwich called The Red Lion with her family and she was just so happy, cheerful and friendly. We just got on so well.
