Dermot O’Leary has paid a heartfelt tribute to his This Morning co-host Alison Hammond and the entire show production team after taking the lead with presenting in the wake of Phillip Schofield’s departure last week. Dermot and Alison stepped into the limelight to take on the presenting duties previously held by Phil and co-host Holly Willoughby this week, after Phillip resigned from the show after admitting he had engaged in an affair with a much younger colleague.

Despite a few emotional hiccups this week however, including when Alison broke down in tears live on air on Friday, Dermot has maintained his usual cool calm professionalism as he made it through a tough week.
As his presenting duties for the week came to a close on Friday, the 50 year old star took to social media to share a string of snaps from behind the scenes as he gave a heartfelt message to the cast and crew that had helped pull the show together this week. He wrote: “Been a privilege to co-host TM with Alison for you all this week, and on behalf of an incredible crew and team, thanks for all the love!” Among the pictures were a section of him smiling alongside Alison, as well as posing with some of the guests this week, which included Sir Ian McKellen, Roger Allam and even the Spitting Image puppets.
