Popular game show Deal or No Deal is set to return to screens after a seven year hiatus.
The show, which was originally hosted by Noel Edmonds, ended in 2016 after 3,000 episodes but now 20 episodes are set to be commissioned by ITV after two successful pilot episodes, writes The Mirror.
The show, which was formerly on Channel 4, will now be hosted by Stephen Mulhern and will run across a month in daytime later this year.
Stephen Mulhern, who is best known for hosting Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, In For a Penny, and Catchphrase, admitted that he would love to be the host for the show when rumours of its return circulated.
He said: “Are they talking about it? The answer is yes.
“Would I love to host it? Yes, without fail. It’s one of the best game shows ever created.”
Insiders said the pilots were a huge hit and they also said that suggestions that the series had been altered in a bid to update it is way of the mark.
One source said: "Deal or No Deal is such a strong format you don’t want to go fiddling with it, it’s pretty much the same. The boxes are back, the banker is back and the 22 players.
"The only difference is Stephen, which gives it a fresh feel.”
At the start of the game, 22 people start with a box worth from 1p up to £250,000.
The main player then eliminates the boxes. They have to outwit an anonymous banker trying to buy their box.
