It’s hard to imagine TV royalty Davina McCall with anything other than her signature dark brunette hair, but over the weekend she threw us a major curveball by wearing blonde extensions. Appearing on ITV's The Masked Singer on Saturday night, the 54 year old changed up her usual brunette look with the help of blonde clip-ins, the handiwork of her boyfriend and hairdresser Michael Douglas. And while your guess is as good as ours as to the identity of our costumed contestants, when it came to the judging panel we think Davina’s fresh look suited her down to a tee.
We clearly weren’t the only ones to think so, as fans rushed to compliment the star on the novel look in the comments section of a post showcasing her look, encouraging her to give the blonde look a go for real. “Looking awesome, especially the barnet. Ever thought about doing the full blonde?” one asked.
“You should do this hair for real #love,” another encouraged. Meanwhile a third chimed in with, “Wow you look amazing! So young and fresh!! Love the hair” as a fourth added, “Oh wow how gorgeous do you look with this new hairstyle? I have been watching you since you very first started on telly and I've gotta say the long hair looks fabulous”. On his own Instagram, Michael shared a behind-the-scenes look at how he created Davina’s fresh style.
“Tonight... is the faux balayage,” he captioned some snaps of Davina before the show. “Simple blow dry with a large round bristle brush – loads of shine and smoothness. Then clip in the blonde balayage wefts from @pakcosmetics.” “I use a small amount of @philsmith12 @philsmithbegorgeous roots spray in Brunette to help blend any blonde areas that look a bit harsh,” he added.

Brian Dowling shocked Big Brother fans with the news that he is yet to see eye to eye with Davina McCall following a disagreement last year. Following the airing of Big Brother’s Best Ever Series programme, Davina tweeted to say that Brian was asked to be a part of the special writing: "He was ultimate housemate!!!! That was a no brainer." The seemingly well-intentioned tweet launched a very public disagreement after Brian replied that it 'wasn't Davina's place to comment' on why he didn't feature in the show. Brian explained that after being offered a short space on the show he turned it down in light of his dismissal as presenter of the show in 2013.
Brian Dowling claims he has received "no apology" for Davina McCall amid their long-running feud. The 43-year-old TV star shot to fame by winning the second series of 'Big Brother' in 2002 before replacing Davina McCall as the presenter during the show's first series on Channel 5 in 2011. But a quarrel ensued after Davina responded to fans in 2020 when asked online by some supporters whether or not Brian had been invited onto 'Big Brother: Best Shows Ever', which looked back at the Channel 4 years of the reality TV show.
