He's won plenty of plaudits for his work at Livingston- and now David Martindale is the centre of the Giovanni van Bronckhorst Rangers replacement chat, along with a familiar face.
The calls for the Dutchman to go are growing within the Ibrox fanbase after a calamitous 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone on Sunday. His side are seven points behind Celtic in the title race and already chat has started on who could come next after Van Bronckhorst. Clyde 1 Superscoreboard welcomed Rangers fans onto the show to air their opinions and there a wide array of thoughts - to say the least.
One caller fumed that he had the "Sunday from hell" after finding himself at a party full of Celtic fans, going to claim that Neil Warnock perhaps would have been a great fit to replace Steven Gerrard after his departure last year. Livingston boss David Martindale is another thrown into the ring as he "absolutely gets this club and would make us tick."
That wasn't the only bit of support the Lions boss got, with pundit and former Rangers striker Kenny Miller left stunned when asked by a separate caller to return to Ibrox as assistant manager to Martindale. The pair previously worked together at Almondvale during the former Falkirk coach's short stint in West Lothian.
Miller responded: "One thing is for sure, he's doing a brilliant job at Livingston. Is that going to be the job to get him the Rangers job? I would have to say no."
Other directed their fury at the board while a fleeting few moved to defend the embattled boss, suggesting injuries have not helped his cause. But one caller said: "Folk are saying give him a chance to change but we are saying that all the time. He's lost the dressing room and players aren't playing for him. He needs to go now."
