Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has opened up on his 'difficult' first season at the club.
De Gea joined United back in 2011 for a fee of £22.5m from Atletico Madrid. Going into the 2011/12 campaign, the pressure was immediately on the new signing having been brought in as a replacement for retiring legend Edwin van der Sar.
He would go on to make 29 appearances in the Premier League, keeping 13 clean sheets in the process but his first season would end without silverware. Speaking to BT Sport, De Gea discussed the difficulties he experienced adapting to Old Trafford.

"When I came to Manchester United, to be honest at the beginning it was tough, it was difficult," the 31-year-old explained. "[This was] because it was more physical, more difficult for 'keepers but I have good memories with this shirt.
"My first season here was a long time ago so it was great to sign for Man United and 11 years after I am still here and very happy." Before joining the Reds, De Gea had been with Atletico since he was a child, eventually building his way up to being their number one 'keeper.
De Gea admitted that having to adapt to England was one of the biggest challenges he faced. "First of all the language," he explained.
"Of course it was a different language and it was difficult for me to learn English at the beginning. The weather... different weather, different food - everything was different from Spain but in the end, over time, you get used to living here and I say now, many times in interviews, this is my house."
