Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has issued a rallying call to supporters — echoing teammate Cristiano Ronaldo — urging everyone to pull together and look towards a positive future. United played their final home game of the season on Monday night, beating Brentford 3-0.
Ronaldo netted his 24th goal of the campaign from the penalty spot, either side of goals from Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane, the latter on target for the first time in United colours. Despite cheering those three goals, though, there has been precious little to savour for the Old Trafford match-goers this season.
De Gea and Ronaldo been the clear stand-out players for United this term, with the long-serving Spaniard the big favourite to grab his fifth Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award. But while De Gea and Ronaldo have carried the fight as individuals, they will not settle for second best collectively moving forward.

Posting to 13.8million followers his Twitter profile, De Gea said: "Our last game of the season at Old Trafford. All I can do is send my thanks as always to you — the United fans, you never stop supporting us even in many difficult days. In this moment lets finish the final two matches and all think positively for the new season."
Over on Instagram Ronaldo had said: "Great support from the stands. Let's take this opportunity of our last game of the season at Old Trafford to thank our amazing supporters, who endured a difficult season by our side and never abandoned us.
"Your support means the world to us and our goal is to become better everyday, so that we can achieve what we all want, glory for Man United."
