Hipgnosis has acquired an 80% stake in the recorded music royalties of country artist Kenny Chesney. The first big music rights acquisition of the year has already been confirmed. Warner Chappell has acquired the David Bowie songs catalogue in a deal reportedly worth in the region of $250 million.

David Bowie, titled Bowie: Starman And The Silver Screen, will take place in January 2022.After it was originally cancelled from January 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the event will now run from January 1-30 next year at BFI Southbank, coinciding with what would have been Bowie’s 75th birthday (January 8).The celebration will include screenings of a mixture of feature films, documentaries and television appearances featuring Bowie, ranging from The Man Who Fell To Earth, Merry Christmas
