David Beckham is among the thousands of people who have queued up for hours to pay respects to the late Queen Elizabeth, whose coffin is lying-in-state at Westminster Hall.
The 47-year-old soccer star got in line at 2am and joined other members of the public to wait their turn to see the coffin on Friday (September 16) in London, England.

“I thought by coming at 2 a.m. it was going to be a little bit quieter. I was wrong,” he told ITV. “But the people here, you know, all ages… Everybody wants to be here, to be part of this experience, to celebrate what her majesty has done for us.”
“We all want to be here together, we all want to experience something where we celebrate the amazing life of our Queen,” David said (via CNN).
“You know something like this today is meant to be shared together. So, you know the fact that we’ve been here. We’re eating Pringles. We’re eating Sherbet Lemons, sandwiches and coffee,” David said, adding that standing in line was taking a toll on his back and feet.
David told ITV that he was there on behalf of his grandparents, who raised him to be royalists.
“This day was always going to be difficult, and it’s difficult for the nation, it’s difficult for everyone around the world, because I think everyone is feeling it,” he said. “Our thoughts are with the family, and obviously with everybody here today, because it’s special to be here to celebrate and to hear the different stories.”
