The heartbroken daughters of a man who died after being found seriously injured in Bellshill have paid tribute to their 'hero'.
Sammy Hamilton was tragically pronounced dead at the scene in Thorndean Avenue after police were called at around 11.30pm on Wednesday.
The 56-year-old’s death is currently being treated as ‘unexplained’ by investigators, who remained at the scene yesterday.
Uniformed officers guarded a large taped off area while a forensic tent was erected near a house.
Tributes have now been paid to Celtic fan Sammy on social media as his sudden death sparked an outpouring of grief from friends and family.
Sharing a picture of her and her father, daughter Nicole Hamilton wrote: “My wee dad. My wee hero. Love you forever.”
Her sibling Sammy Jo also changed her profile picture and simply wrote “my wee dad” with a broken heart emoji.
A friend wrote: “Thoughts are with Sammy Jo, Nicole and the rest of the Hamiltons. Sorry for your loss and thinking of you all.
“Great guy and will always be remembered by so many. R.I.P.”
Another said: “RIP Sammy Hamilton. Fond memories pal. Condolences to all the Hamilton family and friends.”
And a third posted: “Rest in peace Sammy Hamilton. Heart broken like da tae me n my family. Never forget you bud. Fly high.”

Police have confirmed the probe remains ongoing with enquiries at an early stage.
A force spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a 56-year-old man who was found injured at a property in Thorndean Avenue, Bellshill, around 11.30pm on Wednesday, 19 May, 2022.
"Emergency services attended and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
