‘Dark Souls 2’ and ‘Psychonauts 2’ officially verified for Steam Deck among others

As we get closer to the February 25th release date for Valve’s handheld PC Steam Deck, samples of the device are being sent to media, and we’re getting some new information ahead of the final reviews that will likely be out closer to launch. It seems that for now outlets can only talk about the hardware itself, and that so far, the device is sounding pretty good.

Steam Deck will start shipping worldwide at the end of February, and multiple developers have talked about what they like regarding Valve’s portable PC.Shipping from February 28, the Steam Deck is almost out in the hands of players, but it’s already been in the hands of developers for some time, as they’ve been adjusting their games and testing the hardware to make sure titles run on it when it launches.In preparation for the launch, PC Gamer talked to plenty of developers to get their opinions of the Steam Deck.Jonathan Smårs, of Iron Gate said: “I was surprised how well games work on it without any changes, and how good it feels to play on it. Valheim worked from day one on Steam Deck without any changes”.“The graphic settings need to be set down a bit compared to my high end PC of course, but I’m still impressed with what such a small handheld can handle without any platform specific optimizations,” Smårs added.“The touchpad for the mouse, I dare say, might be one of the best I’ve ever used,” added Raymond Doer, owner of SixtyGig Games.

COVID vaccines.The actor hit out at the podcaster in light of COVID misinformation spreading on his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, which Rogan works on in an exclusive deal with Spotify.More than 270 members of the science and medical community signed an open letter, which called Rogan’s actions “not only objectionable and offensive but also medically and culturally dangerous”.“COVID is not an opinion-based situation and Mr Rogan thinking that his opinion or disclaimer for the lives he personally has affected and caused losses of – it’s not an opinion,” Stone said to TMZ.“Mr Rogan is risking people’s lives with his idiocy and his professing that his thoughts about COVID are opinions.“Infectious diseases are science, and they are fact-based situations, so the pretence that these are opinions is dangerous.“He should put a disclaimer that he’s an asshole and that his behaviour is dangerous and affecting people’s lives and deaths.”Rogan publicly responded to the situation earlier this week (January 31), as many artists have started removing their music from Spotify in protest.In a video clip posted to Instagram, Rogan addressed “some of the controversy that’s been going on over the past few days”.He told fans: “I don’t always get it right. I will do my best to try to balance out these more controversial viewpoints with other people perspectives so we can maybe find a better point of view.”Admitting that it is a “strange responsibility to have this many views and listeners,” he promised “to do my best in the future to balance things out”.

Drakeo The Ruler is suing Live Nation for £15million in a wrongful death lawsuit.Drakeo, 28, was on the bill at Once Upon A Time In LA festival on December 18 last year and was reportedly stabbed in the neck by unknown assailant(s) backstage. He was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries.The rapper’s mother, Darrylene Corniel, said last month that she intended to sue the concert promoter over his death, and the lawsuit has now been confirmed in a press conference from her lawyer, James Bryant.Revealing that the case would be filed this week, Bryant said the family would be seeking $20million (£15m) in damages, alleging that Drakeo was “essentially lynched” at the event due to a lack of security precautions.“His life was taken way too soon,” Bryant said, adding: “This should never have never happened if those promotors had actually had the proper security protocols.

The Kooks have announced their sixth album ’10 Tracks To Echo In The Dark’ by sharing new EP ‘Connection –  Echo in the Dark Part 1’. Valve has released an update to developers that announced Easy Anti-Cheat is now compatible with Steam Deck software.A post from Valve provides details of the support and should allow many games to be supported on the Steam Deck with minimal input from the developers.“Our team has been working with Epic on Easy Anti-Cheat + Proton support over the last few months, and we’re happy to announce that adding Steam Deck support to your existing EAC games is now a simple process, and doesn’t require updating game binaries, SDK versions, or integration of EOS. Alongside our BattlEye updates from last year, this means that the two largest anti-cheat services are now easily supported on Proton and Steam Deck.”The post also includes a link for developers using BattlEye or Easy Anti-Cheat to follow, with documentation on how to enable Proton support (via PCGamesN).“Related to this, we’re going to start submitting Deck Verified test data for tested titles that use anti-cheat middleware on Monday, January 24.

PC version of Dark Souls 3, and it looks as though the same problem could hit Elden Ringunless resolved.The Remote Code Execution (RCE) hack essentially allows the potential attacker to execute arbitrary code on a remote device, meaning they can take control of a player’s PC. The full details of the RCE hack are still unknown, but the Dark Souls community has been aflame with warnings of the problem.This Twitch streamer appears to have suffered from an RCE attack, and a screenshotted post from a Dark Souls Discord (via The Verge) potentially reveals that the attack was done in a non-malicious way in an attempt to raise awareness of the issue.
