Danny Dyer did not hold back as he shared his thoughts on the royal family, and the UK as a whole, in a recent interview, which saw the actor discuss his royal heritage. The former EastEnders star, 45, was left shocked during an episode of Who Do You Think You Are when he discovered he is a direct descendent of the Plantagenet dynasty. Historians on the show uncovered that King Edward III, the first Plantagenet King of England was his 22-times-great-grandfather.
It was also discovered that his 14-times-grandmother was Elizabeth Seymor, the sister of Henry VIII's third wife Jane Seymour, and that his 15-times-grandfather was Thomas Cromwell. However, Danny's royal connections haven't made him a fan of the royal family, with the actor telling Heat Magazine that he "doesn't know what to make" of his heritage.
He then told the outlet: "All the other b***ocks I couldn't really give a f*** about. I'm not really a royalist." The Scared of The Dark presenter then also revealed that he "doesn't mind" Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who stepped down as working royals in 2020, adding that the situation with them is "all a bit messy".
Danny then questioned if the younger generation actually care about the monarchy, as he pondered where the royal family could be heading following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, who he referred to as an "incredible woman". The TV star then labelled the UK a shambles as he discussed how the world has changed in recent years, telling the publication: "It's such a different world now, especially post-pandemic.
