Danny Boyle reveals the story for his axed James Bond movie

The lead singer of the Sex Pistols isn’t happy with the new series about the band.

John Lydon has made it crystal clear that he’s not thrilled that the story of his one-time band, Sex Pistols, is being brought to the screen in the new Hulu series “Pistol”, airing in Canada on Disney+.

Danny Boyle is back with his first project since 2019’s “Yesterday” with a miniseries about the rise and fall of The Sex Pistols. And while some people are excited about the show, one of them isn’t ex-Pistols frontman Jon Lydon.

John Lydon to “attack” his Sex Pistols biopic series Pistol, saying that he wouldn’t expect the singer to “change the habit of a lifetime”.The director made allusions in a new interview to the former Sex Pistols frontman’s outspoken nature. Lydon, who was known as Johnny Rotten in the legendary punk band, has criticised the forthcoming biopic on several occasions since its inception.Among those is the time that Lydon called the series a “middle class fantasy” that is “rewriting history” and “would be funny if it wasn’t tragic”.On another occasion he claimed that the production was green-lit without his consent, saying that it’s the “most disrespectful shit I’ve ever had to endure”.

"The director duly made a high-profile exit, to be replaced by Cary Fukunaga. It also affected his creative team and some of the actors who had been hired specifically for his plot and Russia-based finale and who were subsequently let go.

As if we weren’t excited enough to watch Danny Boyle’s TV series about the Sex Pistols, Maisie Williams has shared some pretty iconic behind-the-scenes pictures to tide us over while we wait. The 24-year-old looks worlds away from her Game of Thrones Arya Stark image as she’s starring as a punk icon Pamela Rooke – aka Jordan – in the Disney+ drama series, based on guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir Lonely Boy: Tales From A Sex Pistol. In one selfie, she appears to be bleaching her facial hair after already dying her brunette locks to bright blonde, while in another she’s posing with a blue up-do.

Daniel Craig‘s era of James Bond is over and while “No Time To Die” certainly entertained folks, there are still questions about what director Danny Boyle (“Trainspotting“) would have done with the final outing. Boyle was originally hired to direct and developed the script with screenwriter John Hodge, however, the two eventually left the Bond pic over “creative differences” with franchise producers and Boyle ended up making “Yesterday” instead.
