The father of a teenager who sadly passed away in a police chase crash says he wants to ask questions ‘to see what really happened’ at the full inquest set to go ahead in November. Shae Marlow, 16, tragically died after the VW Golf he was driving hit a wall on Road, Stalybridge, Tameside on November 3, 2020.
Following the incident, Greater Manchester Police issued a statement saying officers were earlier called to an 'attempted burglary' at a shop. A pre inquest review was held today (August 26) at the South Manchester Coroner's Court and Shae’s father, Malcolm Marlow, who disputes his son’s link to the burglary, said: “I just want to ask my questions to see what really happened.”
Ahead of a full inquest into Shae’s death in November, which has been adjourned ‘several' times, a number of issues were reviewed such as the family’s legal representation, the family’s observation of CCTV footage and the reading of evidence and attendance of four potential witnesses. Area coroner Chris Morrison oversaw the pre inquest review, which was attended by GMP and Tameside Council representatives.

When the news of Shae’s death broke, tributes from friends and family poured in. A number of floral tributes were left at the scene of the crash, and one relative, who laid flowers at the scene, told the Manchester Evening News: " He was a very popular lad. He was well-known around here. His mum and dad are in bits, he was really loyal."
A gofundme page set up by a close friend of Shae to raise money for his funeral raised over £5,000. The full hearing into Shae’s death is scheduled for November 14 2022.
