A cyclist was rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted by two men in Irvine on Saturday afternoon. The 30-year-old man was cycling along Rivergate in Saltcoats around 4.15pm when he was attacked by two thugs.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and the man was taken Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock to be treated for his injuries. Detectives are now urging anyone with information to come forward.
The first suspect is described as being white and in his early twenties. He was wearing black trousers, a black t-shirt and a dark-coloured baseball cap.
The second suspect is described as being white and also in his early twenties with black hair. He was wearing black trousers and a grey zipped top.
Detective Constable Stevie Williams said: “Our investigation into this incident is continuing and officers have been carrying out enquiries and gathering CCTV footage.
“Rivergate was busy on Saturday afternoon when this incident happened and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact us.”
