Mourners filed into a sanctuary in Minneapolis on Thursday for the first in a series of memorials to George Floyd, whose death at the hands of police has sparked sporadic violence and turbulent protests around the world against racial injustice.

Many celebrities are joining the nationwide protests sparked by the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minn. Across the country, people have been protesting against police brutality, specifically against the black community, in the wake of a shocking video that shows Floyd being taken into custody by an officer who places his knee on his neck.

Thousands of people have been arrested as protests continued across the United States for an eighth night following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week in police custody.

On May 31, Lizzo opened up in an emotional, tearful Instagram Live video broadcasted to her fans, where she shared her dismay and frustration over the ongoing protests following the death of an unarmed Black man, George Floyd, in Minneapolis, MN on May 25. In the video, the “Like A Girl” singer, 32, became incredible upset at the ongoing police brutality seen across the nation.

Tokyo Jetz made a huge mistake and now she’s apologizing after the massive backlash she received from her followers. The star seemed to make a George Floyd related joke and people were very mad about it! Now, Tokyo admits that she was ‘wrong as hell!’ In a video statement she released on the matter, the woman seemed very regretful as she addressed everything with tears in her eyes.

Madison Beer said she was tear-gassed while protesting the death of George Floyd in Santa Monica, Calif., on Sunday. The singer took to her Instagram Story writing, "was just tear gassed leave santa monica now" over a selfie which showed the 21-year-old wearing a mask.

“I’m sorry, I messed up big time,” Tokyo Jetz, 25, captioned the Instagram video she uploaded on June 1. The “No Problem” rapper issued an apology after a social media clip showed her placing a friend in a playful headlock.
