However, according to a report from the Telegraph, Tuchel vetoed the club’s suggestion to sign United striker Ronaldo in the transfer window. The report claims that the German felt irritated at having to justify his reasons for this to Boehly, who struggled to take no for an answer.
Boehly, who is said to have been keen on making a statement signing after taking over the London club, met with Ronaldo's agent Jorges Mendes over the summer - which came after the Portuguese international expressed his desire to leave the Reds in search of Champions League football.
It remains unclear if the 37-year-old would have made the move to Stamford Bridge, however, Tuchel reportedly blocked the transfer as he felt that Ronaldo was a poor fit for the way he wanted his team to operate.
Tuchel was desperate to add a striker in the transfer window after Romelu Lukaku returned to Inter Milan on loan following his disappointing return to Chelsea. The Blues ended up signing 33-year-old Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona on deadline day.
