Manchester United could be without Cristiano Ronaldo for the Old Trafford fixture with West Ham after he complained of a neck injury after Wednesday's win at Brentford.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick said Ronaldo needed lengthy treatment on the injury on Thursday and was now a doubt for the crucial Premier League fixture with the Hammers.
Ronaldo was unhappy at being substituted 19 minutes from time in the win over Brentford, but didn't show any signs of injury and Rangnick hasn't mentioned it as a reason for his replacement either after that game or in his press conference to preview the West Ham fixture earlier.
But the German has now told MUTV that Ronaldo will need to be assessed before the game, as will his obvious replacement Edinson Cavani, who was also unable to train on Thursday.
“Cristiano is a question mark because he has a problem with his neck," said Rangnick. "He received treatment yesterday for two to three hours and we will have to wait to see how he feels today.
“Edi hasn’t been training with the team yet and will hopefully resume training today and then we’ll take the final decision after the training session today, [around] if he will be available for the game tomorrow.”
Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw will also be missing once again for the game with David Moyes' side, with United knowing a win could take them into the top four.
Rangnick will also make a late call on Jadon Sancho after he missed training the day after attending a funeral of a close family member.
But Scott McTominay is expected to be fit despite coming off with an injury late on at the Brentford Community Stadium and Jesse Lingard could be available.
“Aaron will still be missing. He’s still ill. Jesse resumed back for training
