SACRAMENTO, Calif. – During his daily COVID-19 press conference Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that his administration working in partnership with Public Health officials would be allowing certain “low-risk” retail sectors to reopen as early as Friday.
This announcement comes amid growing pressure to ease the stay-at-home order that has cratered the California economy. The governor told reporters that the state will be providing detailed new strict guidelines on Thursday.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday announced the loosening of tight stay-at-home orders and shutdowns, declaring that 53 of the 58 state counties are eligible to move into phase two of reopening if they choose to.
