Court hears allegations PR executive tried to 'turn the public against' Ryan Giggs by setting up a 'staged' paparazzi picture

The former partner of Ryan Giggs was accused of trying to 'turn the public against' the former Manchester United star by setting up a 'staged' picture in the press, a jury heard. Kate Greville admitted setting up a picture of herself which later appeared in an article in a national newspaper, two weeks after she was allegedly headbutted by 48-year-old Mr Giggs.
But she maintained she was not paid for it and did not speak with a journalist about the content of the article. His barrister also claimed before the court that she'd 'enhanced' a bruise on her lip using makeup to make it look 'worse', which Ms Greville denied.
She said she'd 'staged' the picture as she was 'scared to go out' because photographers were trying to take pictures of her. The court heard Ms Greville denied she'd tried to get pregnant with Mr Giggs in a bid to receive a 'significant amount of financial support' in the future.
Ms Greville completed her evidence on Thursday afternoon after spending three days behind a curtain in the witness box at Manchester Crown Court. She alleged that Mr Giggs headbutted her after she'd told him of alleged evidence that he'd had 'affairs' with eight other women while they'd been together.
Mr Giggs denies headbutting her, and his barrister described the claim as 'completely made up'. He also denies assaulting her sister Emma, as well as behaving in a controlling or coercive manner towards Kate Greville between August 2017 and November 2020.
Jurors heard that an article appeared online about two weeks after the alleged headbutt, featuring a picture of Ms Greville walking her dog. Mr Giggs' barrister Chris Daw QC read out messages sent between Ms Greville and a friend. "I reckon we could get 5k," Ms Greville said in a
