Coronation Street after 12 years of playing Faye Windass. In upcoming scenes, Faye will find herself struggling to cope with the idea of ex-partner Jackson Hodge (Joseph Evans) and daughter Miley (Frankie-Jae Simmonds) moving to Slough without her. Having revealed that he has considered informing the police of his cover up of Faye’s hit and run, Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) – who is struggling with the prospect of life without his partner – has left Faye feeling more trapped than ever, as actress Ellie Leach revealed.
‘I think everyone knows that Craig is just this kind of like fun loving character and we’ve never really seen him react like that before. He’s always so nice and everything’s so la-di-dah with him. ‘I feel like she is definitely like, where has this come from? Who is this person? As much as it drives her to stay, because she’s scared of that getting out, it also drives her further and further away because she doesn’t want to be in a relationship with someone who’s literally blackmailing her.
‘The saddest part of the scene is we’re in the taxi, we’re on our way and we just see Craig on his own just walking up the street. Faye’s like, “stop the car!” She gets out and she’s like, “I’ll always love you. I always have and I always will”.
’‘It was just so, so emotional. I think you do see that there’s two people here who do love each other but there are so many other factors. Love isn’t always enough, and I think you can definitely see that in that scene.
’Ellie revealed that her final day on set was just as emotional, but that she had ‘happy tears’ saying goodbye to Faye. ‘It was very, very emotional. Faye’s been here for 12 years but I’ve been here for 12 years and it’s been my life.
