Coronation Street fans are braced for another rollercoaster week in Weatherfield as a verdict is finally delivered in Toyah Battersby’s (Georgia Taylor) trial following the death of her husband Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo). But before a verdict is given, Toyah makes a confession, shocking her sister Leanne (Jane Danson) and new beau Spider (Martin Hancock) when she reveals she deliberately crashed the car with the intention of killing Imran. At the trial, Leanne advises Toyah to let her solicitor do the talking.
But when Imran’s mother Saira (Kim Vithana) – who has already spotted Toyah and Spider kissing in secret - claims Toyah was having an affair with Spider and planned to kill Imran, she can’t take any more and declares she’s taking the stand herself. Later, the court delivers its verdict. Will Toyah be heading off to prison? An investigation was launched into the lawyer’s tragic death last month after his suspicious injuries came to light, leading to his wife Toyah being subsequently arrested and charged.
Imran died in June after being involved a car crash while Toyah was driving them home. Meanwhile, Kelly (Millie Gibson) and Aadi (Adam Hussain) throw an engagement party. However, when Sharon (Tracie Bennett) hears Kelly ask Gary (Mikey North) to be best man, she’s horrified, knowing he killed her dad, Rick Neelan (Greg Wood).
Later, the pressure is on Gary when Kelly receives a bag containing some of her mum’s belongings that had been left in Spain. Realising that on the day her mother supposedly killed Rick she was in Spain, Kelly demands to know who the real killer is. Could the game finally be up for Gary? Gary killed Kelly’s gangster and loan shark father Rick back in 2019 in self-defence.
