I was like a little kid in a sweet shop, honestly. The first time I walked on there, I kept saying to myself, “Oh my God, I’m on Coronation Street!” Did you take lots of pictures? Of course! It’s good having my little brother Jack [James Ryan, who plays Jacob Hay] there too as he’s good with all of that. He came with me and took loads of pictures.
Did you find it hard not to call everyone by their character names when you first met them? Absolutely. Because I’m such a fan of Coronation Street anyway, I know them by their character names and I had to consciously think, “Oh no, that’s not actually their name.” But, luckily, I was so focused on it, I stopped myself.
Apart from your brother, who are you closest to on set? Tina [O’Brien, who plays Sarah Platt] and I just got on so well. She’s just such an amazing person and I’m so lucky to have had most of my scenes
