Coronation Street viewers were left emotional after they spotted what they thought was a touching tribute to Ukraine on the ITV soap. On Monday night, ITV viewers saw Elle Mulvaney's character Amy Barlow trying to convince her grandfather Ken Barlow (William Roache) to give her the inheritance that her late grandmother, Deidre (Anne Kirkbride) left her before she passed away.
Amy wanted the money to fund her studies at University after she cut ties with her parents, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), as they didn’t support her new relationship with Jacob Hay (Jack James Ryan). Moments before Ken was quizzed by his granddaughter, viewers took to social media to say they were convinced that they saw a tribute to Ukraine in the background of the cobbles' iconic cafe Roy’s Rolls.

As another replied: “Same.” While Roy, played by David Neilson, is known for supporting important social causes, it’s unknown if the colours were intentional placement to support Ukraine as Russia continue to attack. Roy is one of the most-loved characters in Weatherfield, and the big-hearted character has taken many of the Street's residents under his wing over the years.
These include Becky McDonald (Katherine Kelly), Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine), Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), and Carla Connor (Alison King). Roy also supported his niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher)
