A longstanding Coronation Street cast member has lost his role in the soap after taking a selfie with well-known TV presenter Andi Peters. Matthew Davidge, 54, worked on Coronation Street as an extra for 34 years, but has revealed how he lost his job after asking the Good Morning Britain host for a cheeky snap. Andi was filming for a competition when Matthew spotted him on set and asked for a picture, which he happily agreed to.
But, come Monday 11 April, Matthew had been let go from his job on the cobbles after his agency, Industry Model Management, fired him. Taking the snap with Andi breached a ban on phones on set, but the former Corrie extra said he has dozens of selfies with stars and says the rule was not implemented before. Speaking to The Sun, he said: “I’m speechless.
I’ve worked on the set of Corrie on and off since 1986. I’ve never had a complaint and I’ve loved every minute of it. Now, it’s all over.
