Coronation Street boss reveals 'dark' twists as Stephen is exposed

ITV Coronation Street's Stephen Reid will find his bad-guy ways soon catch up with him as he's set to be exposed a scammer and a liar. The popular soap's producer Iain MacLeod has revealed viewers were right about the son of Audrey Roberts, and teases he could go to "desperate and dark" lengths to maintain his schemes.
Stephen has been behaving strangely since he returned earlier this year, and fans immediately suspected he was hiding something. But with the evidence seeming to show he's after Audrey's money, and him beginning to target other residents, fans are keen to know more about his past.
Producer Iain has revealed the con-man will become as "dangerous" as viewers predicted and also hinted that other characters might become involved too. Speaking to The Mirror and other press, he said: "He will continue to get more and more desperate and more and more dark as the story unfolds." He added: "The beauty of his character really is that he's got this huge longevity in terms of his connection to the show and to a heritage family, but actually he is a bit of a blank canvas.
"If you think back through his archive scenes, we don't really know a lot about him. So we thought well, actually, if we're gonna fill in those blanks and we're gonna learn more about him shouldn't we make him dark, dangerous, interesting and scheming?" Iain continues: "I think he's just brought such an injection of otherness into the show.
Not least his accent.
